Gerardo Castro

Spring Intern 2026

Hi my name is Gerardo Castro, a junior at Lighthouse. I carry a strong sense of determination, motivation, and responsibility that allow me to pursue opportunities and set many goals for myself. One of my primary goals is to attend a 4-year university in the near future, where I plan on studying business, focusing on investments, financial management, and economic principles, along with hoping to empower more people who look like me to integrate themselves in fields that are mostly white. My interests in business began in 8th grade, when I began my own small business in graphic design. I self taught myself about the basics of graphic design. Learning about this new skill transformed into something I genuinely had a passion for doing. Early knowledge built my ambition to study business at the university level, where I hope to learn a ton of new skills. I also hope to expand my understanding of the professional world and to create opportunities not only for myself but for all of my community. I am also involved in volunteering at a local daycare in my community, where I have learned to work with children and realize the importance of being able to learn about different backgrounds. I hope that in the future I can bring topics like financial literacy and business back to my community, as it is a topic that is usually not emphasized in communities of color.
