Project Overview
Blueprint partnered with The Museum School of East Dallas, a newly authorized charter, to transform space within an existing church complex into its first permanent learning environment. The approximately 4.2-acre property includes multiple buildings, a gym, outdoor areas for play and learning, and space that will allow the school to expand its footprint as enrollment grows.
Working on an accelerated timeline, Blueprint provided project management support from start to finish—site assessment & planning through construction and occupancy. The work included public procurement via RFQ and RFP for professional design services and construction management, respectively. The project required city council approval of a Specific Use Permit & traffic management plan. With the support of these project partners, Blueprint led the design & permitting process, coordinated environmental assessment & remediation, and managed the construction process of improvements needed to convert the existing property for educational use. Campus improvements included expanded fire and life-safety systems, staff and student restroom improvements to meet accessibility standards, and upgrades to existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for educational use. Blueprint also supported project budgeting and scheduling, consultant and contractor coordination, permitting, construction oversight, and direct liason with Dallas Fire and Rescue to facilitate securing the school’s Certificate of Occupancy on such an accelerated timeline.
In addition to providing project management expertise, Blueprint invested directly in the project, helping The Museum School of East Dallas secure the resources needed to prepare its first campus for students. From identifying a viable facility to helping prepare it to welcome students, Blueprint was proud to partner with The Museum School of East Dallas as it moved from a newly authorized charter school to an operating campus in less than one year—creating a foundation for the school to grow and serve more East Dallas students in the years ahead.
