Bright Star Valor Elementary School

Project Overview

Blueprint supported Bright Star Schools in the development of a permanent home for Valor Elementary School in the San Fernando Valley, strengthening Bright Star’s established K–12 cluster in the region and expanding access to high-quality public education for local families.

The facility sits on a 2.06-acre site sits with just one mile from Bright Star’s middle school facility on Burnett Street, previously developed with Blueprint. This proximity allows the school to remain deeply connected to its community while benefiting from a purpose-built campus designed to support long-term growth.

The project included the purchase of the property, demolition of existing non-historic structures, and new ground-up construction of a modern, two-story elementary school campus. At full build-out, the facility will serve 500 students and include 27 classrooms, a multi-purpose building, and approximately 30,000 square feet of instructional and shared space. The design also incorporates outdoor play areas, 49 on-site parking spaces, bicycle racks, and on-site pick-up and drop-off to improve safety and traffic flow.

An existing 1,400-square-foot house identified as a potential historic resource will remain on site and be repurposed for school administration, preserving neighborhood character while supporting school operations.

Blueprint provided a predevelopment and acquisition loan to support early project phases, structured as a short-term, interest-only facility to reduce financial risk while advancing design, permitting, and construction readiness.
